Beginning and advanced courses in spoken Latin will be offered half-days 4-8 August 2025.

Spoken Latin summer 2025

Both beginning and advanced spoken Latin are immersive and intensive courses. Classes are held fullyl in Latin. Participants will need to limit their outside responsibilities in order to allow for considerable daily preparation.

Beginning Spoken Latin
Open to those with or without previous knowledge of Latin and for teachers who would like to learn techniques for actively teaching the fundamentals of the Latin language. Classes are held fully in Latin

Advanced Spoken Latin
Open to those with extensive experience speaking the Latin lanaguge.

Course material

The beginning course will follow the book: Hans Ørberg, Lingua Latina per se Illustrata: Familia Romana.

The advanced book will follow a subsequent book of the same series chosen to meet the proficiency and needs of those who enrol.

Recommended volumes include:

Jeanne Neumann, Companion to Familia Romana. Focus, 2016.
Roberto Carfagni, Nova exercitia Latina. Schola Latina, 2015.
Reginaldus Foster – Daniel McCarthy, Ossa Latinitatis Sola, CUA 2015.

After the course in spoken Latin we offer two-week courses in beginning, intermediate and advanced Latin as well as readings in Latin.
