Leo and Cicero, Guided Readings

The Power and the Glory of the Latin language both 50 BC and 450 AD as abound in the speeches of

M.T. Cicero (106-43 BC)

and the sermons of

Leo the Great (c. 400-461 AD).

Guided readings in both classical and ecclesiastical authors will be held online moderated moderated by Daniel Vowles.

The course will be held online weekdays from 21 July through 1 August 2025 for two hours including a break. Participants may also enrol in the Advanced Latin course taught by the same instructor and held during the same two weeks (description here).

ONLINE ONLY 21 July – 1 August 2025, weekdays

We’ll meet for two hours daily, including a short break.

Fee: £200 Discount fee £175 when this reading course is taken in combination with LA711 Advanced Latin or L711 Proficient Latin for Liturgists (and Canonists).

Activities include the presentation of Latin and reading Latin texts together and a daily ludus domesticus, “home-game”, for self-study and in class review.
