Brother Elie Zinati is a member of the Lebanese Maronite Order. He has worked extensively in editing and translating Syriac Patristic texts. He has taught the Syriac language for several years in Lebanese monasteries and parishes, as well as at the Liturgical Institute of Ealing Abbey in July 2025.
Monastic Life
He entered the Lebanese Maronite Order as a postulant in 2009, during which time he began studying Syriac. He was a novice from 2013 to 2015, made his temporary vows in 2015, and professed perpetual vows in 2020.
Studies
- 2015–2021: Bachelor’s degree in Theology from the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK), Lebanon.
- 2021–2022: Completed coursework and the comprehensive examination for the Diplôme d’Études Approfondies(DEA – Postgraduate Degree) in Dogmatic and Sacramental Theology at USEK. He discontinued the thesis to pursue further studies in Rome at the Pontifical Patristic Institute “Augustinianum” (IPA).
- 2022–2023: Completed the propaedeutic year at the IPA, Rome, focusing on Greek and Latin languages.
- 2023–present: Master’s degree candidate in Patristic Sciences and Theology at the IPA, currently writing a thesis on an unpublished text attributed to Isaac of Antioch.
